Here's the Story:

I was hunting in a tripod stand up the fence line on our place in west Texas. My dad happened to be hunting in a very tall box stand a few hundred yards away up the hill. Both overlook a huge field. The field is very grown up and thick in most areas so it can be difficult to see in some areas, but we get a lot of movement throughout that field. My dad had texted me between 5-5:15pm to let me know there was a shooter in the field since he had a much better vantage point. The buck was still a couple hundred yards away at least at that point across the field. Luckily I had my grunt call with me and called a couple times hoping to lure him my way. I waited a few minutes expecting him to be coming from a different direction, then before I knew it he was on me! Walked out of the trees directly in front of me coming straight my way. I had a slight mini heart attack for a moment there super worried he was going to spot or smell me cause he kept coming in. Right at about 20 yards he turned just enough for me to get a shot through his shoulder. Ran about another 30 yards and layed down behind a mesquite tree. Needless to say I was shaking like a leaf and broke out in tears of joy when I watched him go down. It all couldn't have happened more perfectly, especially being the day before the season ends.
